The demand for cruises continues to soar and travel agents are playing an increasingly important role in the consumer travel process, as shown in Cruise Lines International Association's (CLIA) third Travel Agent Cruise Industry Outlook Report of 2016.

Carnival Cruise Line has announced that Carnival Horizon will be the name of its new 133,500-ton ship scheduled to be delivered in March 2018.
Currently under construction at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Marghera, Italy, Horizon will be the line’s second Vista-class ship, with the namesake vessel in the series, Carnival Vista, having entered service in May 2016.

Uniworld Boutique River Cruise Collection has announced the appointment of Ellen Bettridge as president and chief executive officer, succeeding Guy Young who has been promoted and will take on two new roles at The Travel Corporation, Uniworld’s parent company.

Poseidon Expeditions is reporting increasing demand from its passengers for off-ship camping in both polar regions. And in response, it has now made 40 on-land camping slots per voyage available on its Antarctica sailings.
Steve Wellmeier, managing director of Poseidon’s North American sales and reservation office, observed: “Last year we had only 30 overnight slots per voyage available. These allotments quickly sold out so this season we decided to offer 40 spaces.”
