Travel and tourism students at Humber College in Toronto received a nice show of support Wednesday (March 7) when Ontario Tourism Minister Daiene Vernile dropped by for a keynote address.
The newly appointed minister wished students well, asking them jokingly to graduate soon as they are needed in the field.
“Stakeholders in the industry are looking for skilled staff,” she said. “Ontario tourism needs professionals like you.”

Japan tourism officials and suppliers attending the Discover Japan & Tokyo event in Vancouver last week marked an arrivals milestone for Canadian visitors to the country.
Both the Japan consul general Asako Okai and Hideaki Nakazawa, the executive director of the JNTO in Toronto, emphasized that Japan arrivals from Canada had exceeded 300,000 for the first time ever, peeking at 305,000.
