IATA is urgently calling on governments to work together to find ways to re-establish global connectivity by re-opening borders and to continue with relief measures to sustain airlines during the COVID-19 crisis.
The airline industry association’s call comes as IATA reports that July passenger demand (measured in revenue passenger kilometers or RPKs) continued at critically low levels -- 79.8% below July 2019 levels.
This was “somewhat better” than the 86.6% year-over-year decline recorded in June, primarily driven by domestic markets, most notably Russia and China. Market...

WestJet is investigating an appeal of the rate increase and will remove the additional surcharge if the appeal is successful.

"The Lufthansa Group airlines are thus meeting their customers' needs for...
IATA is appealing to all travellers to wear face coverings during the travel journey for the safety of all passengers and crew during COVID-19.
The appeal, from the global airline industry association, comes following recent reports of travellers refusing to wear a face covering during a flight.
And while these incidents involved only a very small number of individuals, some on-board incidents have become violent, resulting in costly and extremely inconvenient diversions to offload these passengers.
IATA points out that wearing face coverings is a key recommendation of the...
In conversation with Canadian Travel Press, Forrester’s chief business technology officer & head of FeedbackNow, Steve Peltzman makes it clear that “the pandemic will have a long-term effect, and the customer balance between convenience and safety will shift forever as a result.”
